We are not supposed to discuss other companies here, but credit is due where credit is due. We know of at least one American stock manufacturer that has been making stocks from Micarta since 2016. That company’s level of success is nothing short of spectacular. A huge number of top competitive shooters have already switched to Micarta stocks, and more continue to switch every day. There must be a reason for that level of success.
It is a bit difficult to describe the benefits of this material because the description sounds counterintuitive at first.
Micarta is significantly lighter weight-wise than aluminum (about 20%), yet it deals with recoil much more effectively. It is a “dead” material with practically no resonance or vibration. The result is less felt and more manageable recoil, yet it weighs about 20% less than aluminum, which is the “counterintuitive” part.
We believe our company is the first to offer chassis made from Micarta, not traditional stocks, but full-featured chassis with all of their implicit benefits. And we are not merely offering “a chassis” but an Orca of a Chassis! Why “Orca”? Because of the similarities between the magnificent marine mammal and our chassis, they are both:
- Beautiful
- Nimble
- Resilient
- Lethal
- F.A.S.T. (pun intended)
Other key features of these chassis include:
- Monolithic Chassis/BipodeXt: The proprietary fore-end that houses our renowned telescoping carbon fiber tubes (BipodeXt technology) and the action sitting area is now a single piece.
- Adjustable Magazine Latch. Our repeater chassis come fitted with our exclusive (patent pending) Adjustable Magazine Latch.
- 3.725″ and 3.850″ (CIP) magazines in the same chassis. All our chassis made to take AICS SSSF magazines can take either magazine length via the installation or removal of our exclusive (patent-pending) Spacer. No removal of the barreled action is needed to install or remove our Spacer.
Toolless adjustment of buttstock:
- Length of pull
- Buttpad vertical elevation
- Rear bag rider elevation
- Cheekpiece elevation
- Cheekpiece fore and aft
- Modular Cheekpiece system. Cheekpieces are available in
- 1″ height (ships standard)
- 1.5″ height
- 2 ” height
- Modular Bag Rider Feet system. Feet are available in:
- 4″ length (ships standard)
- 5″ length. Extra 1″ length can be installed fore or aft.
- 4″ Tilted. Tilt can be installed fore or aft.
- Feet replacement does require a 5/32″ Hex key, which is included in the box.
Chassis Weights*
- Mako chassis weights:
- Fast Ready (no BipodeXt tubes) = 7.88 lbs./3,576 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. I (one BipodeXt tube) = 8.69 lbs./3,945 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. II (two BipodeXt tubes) = 8.9 lbs./4,040 kgs.
- Baby Orca chassis weights:
- Fast Ready (no BipodeXt tubes) = 8.9 lbs./4,078 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. I (one BipodeXt tube) = 10.08 lbs./4,611 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. II (two BipodeXt tubes) = 10.51 lbs./4,809 kgs.
- Mama Orca chassis weights:
- Fast Ready (no BipodeXt tubes) = 10.93 lbs./4,997 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. I (one BipodeXt tube) = 12.11 lbs./5,530 kgs.
- F.A.S.T. II (two BipodeXt tubes) = 12.54 lbs./5,728 kgs.
*The above-stated are average weights. Each action model requires specific cuts; thus, weights may vary slightly from chassis model to chassis model.
