The legacy of Kelbly’s Inc. is intertwined with the vision and dedication of Ralph Stolle, a passionate benchrest competitor. In 1969, Stolle, driven by a desire for excellence, crafted the Stolle Grizzly – an unlimited steel action characterized by its round design, substantial length of over 14 inches, 1.700″ diameter, and distinguished blued finish. This innovation saw a limited production, with approximately 25 to 30 units, primarily tailored for unlimited bag guns.
In 1970-71, Ralph Stolle took a significant step forward by introducing the first aluminum Panda action. This revolutionary design measured 11.5 inches in length and featured an elongated barrel thread area. Sadly, in 1979, Ralph Stolle suffered a heart attack, leading to a relocation to North Lawrence. However, his indomitable spirit persevered, and in 1981, he resumed action production at Kelbly’s facility, collaborating with George E. Kelbly Sr.
Tragically, Ralph Stolle passed away in September 1982, but his legacy endured. In November 1982, Jim Kelbly joined the ranks, with George E. Kelbly Jr. following suit in 1986, and Mike Kelbly in 1991. In 2012, George Sr. retired, passing the torch to his three sons. Today, Kelbly’s Inc. boasts a dedicated team of 13 employees, including Ian and Ryan Kelbly, both sons of Jim Kelbly. This family-owned company continues to carry forward the tradition of precision and innovation, upholding the remarkable legacy left by Ralph Stolle
