The name ‘ÄŒeská zbrojovka’ translates to ‘Czech Armory,’ and it has a rich history. Its sister company, ÄŒeská zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod, traces its origins back to 1936 when it was established as a branch plant of ÄŒeská zbrojovka Strakonice. Production began on January 2, 1937, with a focus on both military and civilian arms. The initial products included aircraft machine guns, military pistols, and small-bore rifles. However, during World War II, the plant came under Nazi occupation and was compelled to produce and repair military firearms.
After the war, in post-war Czechoslovakia, the plant resumed production of both military and civilian arms in equal proportions. In 1950, the company became a separate state enterprise known as ‘PÅ™esné strojÃrenstvà Uherský Brod’ (The Precision Machine Tooling Company, Uherský Brod) and underwent reorganization into various specialized departments.
The 1970s and 1980s witnessed the company’s merger with Agrozet Brno, which allowed it not only to manufacture firearms but also to diversify into the production of reduction gears and driveshaft casings for aircraft engines for Motorlet Praha. Additionally, the company ventured into hydraulically powered and controlled tractor attachments for Zetor Brno during this period
